About Us- Satayaa Africa Foundation (Satayaa).

About The Role.

The volunteer position is an opportunity offered by Satayaa Africa Foundation (Satayaa) for young graduates to earn work experience. It is therefore both a learning and value-adding relationship between volunteers and Satayaa. The volunteer is expected to take advantage of the opportunity to gather experience, self-development, while providing quality service to Satayaa.

 

As Editorial Assistant, you are responsible for assisting the Editor-in-Chief to write, publish and

promote editorials for Satayaa Africa Foundation; reviewing online engagement, and administration of Satayaa’s engagements with Children and adult writers and readers, which cuts across Satayaa. The Editorial Assistant will work closely with the Editor in Chief.

 

Duties and Responsibilities.

●       Draft bi-weekly newsletters;

●       Advise social media curator on social media posts that should be shared on reading;

●       Facilitate promotions and activities around reading through existing programs;

●       Support in the planning and implementing publication schedules;

●       Researching facts and new features to maintain accuracy;

●       Collaborating with various departments to ensure a smooth publication schedule;

●       Performing all administrative duties, replying to emails, and setting up meetings;

●       Work with Editor in Chief to review manuscripts for clients;

●       Facilitate the review and posting of writings of stories from students of the writing mentorship class for children;

●       Advice on all matters on editorials for Satayaa regarding structure, graphics, and context,(social media posts inclusive).

Requirements

●       Strong verbal and written communication skills

●       Highly motivated with a desire to learn

●       Teachable, Compassionate and Patient.

●       Proficient in Microsoft and Google tools.

●       Should own a laptop.

Internship Duration 

This internship will last for one year. There is a potential opportunity for extension or permanent employment based on performance and organizational requirements.
