Brick By Brick

God is the builder of everything

ree

One of my favorite things to do as a child during the rainy season was to make a house using sand. It was always a competition between myself and my younger brother to see who could make the best house, I don’t recall who would always win but I remember having so much fun.

The first thing you do when you start building is to ensure that you dig a deep enough space for your foot to fit in so the dome of the house would be high. After that is completed, next is to begin piling and molding the sand around your foot ensuring to pay attention not to move your foot before the dome is thick and steady enough and for this, you would need patience.

In our previous newsletter, we considered obedience as a one of the important characters to have when building with God. The next is patience.

But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. James 1:4 NKJV

As this is the year where we build with God, we must also know Him in order for us to be able to work with Him. God is not in a hurry and He is very detailed, for you to work with God you must be patient. Patience builds righteous character in us, which is something God intends for us to have.

The Son of God must be complete and for you to be complete, you must be patient enough to allow God build you layer by layer and brick by brick. When a house is being built, its foundation takes a while to come together, not because the ground is hard or the contractor wants to make more money, but because if done properly it will be firm and steady enough to carry the weight of the house. You are God’s masterpiece and He is taking His time with you, there is no delay but rather calculated strokes and brilliant detailing.

Cheers,

Ishioma.
