Counting The Cost

Where your treasure is, there your heart will be.

ree

Learning to ascribe value to things helps you evaluate what is valuable and what is not. In the Scriptures Jesus gives us a parable that points to the value of the Kingdom of God it would cost you everything. But you have to make the hard choice because whether or not you choose Him, He is more valuable than life itself.

“The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure that a man discovered hidden in a field. In his excitement, he hid it again and sold everything he owned to get enough money to buy the field. Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant on the lookout for choice pearls.  When he discovered a pearl of great value, he sold everything he owned and bought it!” Matthew 13:44-46 NLT.

“But don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it? Otherwise, you might complete only the foundation before running out of money, and then everyone would laugh at you. They would say, ‘There’s the person who started that building and couldn’t afford to finish it!’ Luke 14:28-30 NLT.

“He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it”. Matthew 10: 37-39 NLT.
